There is a smoke stack alone, unhindered. Standing strong in it's solitary state upon a field of snow. Bordered by a road on one side, train tracks on the other. It appears as though time has forgotten it.
Many view it as an eyesore, one that should be torn down to make way for another modern convenience . As if the world absolutely requires another strip mall.
I personally find it beautiful. A transient reminder as you fly by on the train that although everything around you has been torn down or destroyed, You can persevere and remain through the clearing of smoke and ash clouds to reveal another path.
The world may have moved on and yet there you remain unhindered and unchanging, still as strong as you once were, more beautiful than you were in your prime with the buildings and walls around you. More beautiful because you and you alone have made it through time.
It is art. It reminds us of our past. Helps us realize that each of us have our own individual inner strength to remain and make a difference in the world, even though we may not know it we still have a chance to better our lives or to help someone else with theirs through example.
I cannot help but admire you as the train pulls forward glancing back until you are fully out of sight.
